A Scientometric Review of Research Trends in Language Assessment Literacy

This study provides a scientometric review of language assessment literacy (LAL) research published in the Web Science (WoS) core collection between 2008, when LAL was first indexed as combined phrase, and 2021. Six comprehensive analyses were conducted utilizing CiteSpace: publication cited trends, dual-map overlay, most papers, co-authorship, co-occurrence, co-citation. Results showed that annual publications have shown fluctuating upward trend has undergone three stages: initial (2008–2012), fluctuated (2013–2017), steadily increasing stages (2018–2021). Professional conferences testing significantly contributed to these development are closely related stage-critical milestones. “Teacher” appears one frequently researched stakeholder groups, on other stakeholders, especially students, increased. “Psychology” “Education” major areas for both citing journals provide solid foundation research.
